Whistlers of the grassland

Whistlers of the grassland

When I reached the Bhigwan grasslands, whistling songs filled the air from all around, but the singers stayed hidden. Determined to find the source, I got down from the car and lied down on the ground, near a small patch and waited. Soon enough movements began stirring in the grass all around me. Then, finally, a pair of rock bush quails hopped onto a small round rock, the female and male alternating their whistling notes like a grassland duet.
